ABSTRACT

The paper aims to give an account on the development of the online dispute resolution (ODR) in the Brazilian legal reality, as an alternative to the traditional model. The description of the aspects of ODR, demonstrating its versatility in the face of disputes endured by contemporary society were achieved through a qualitative methodology based on bibliographical research, international and national diplomas. Then, its execution is observed in foreign legal system, considering its particularities. After that, the birth of online dispute resolution is highlighted in the Brazilian legal system and its gradual regulation before the pandemic situation of SARS-CoV-2. In conclusion, the study asserts the effectiveness and flexibility of ODR for dispute resolution in front of the Judiciary Branch. © 2022, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. ABSTRACT

The diagnosis of COVID-19 requires chest computed tomography (CT). High-resolution CT images can provide more diagnostic information to help doctors better diagnose the disease, so it is of clinical importance to study super-resolution (SR) algorithms applied to CT images to improve the reso-lution of CT images. However, most of the existing SR algorithms are studied based on natural images, which are not suitable for medical images;and most of these algorithms improve the reconstruction quality by increasing the network depth, which is not suitable for machines with limited resources. To alleviate these issues, we propose a residual feature attentional fusion network for lightweight chest CT image super-resolution (RFAFN). Specifically, we design a contextual feature extraction block (CFEB) that can extract CT image features more efficiently and accurately than ordinary residual blocks. In addition, we propose a feature-weighted cascading strategy (FWCS) based on attentional feature fusion blocks (AFFB) to utilize the high-frequency detail information extracted by CFEB as much as possible via selectively fusing adjacent level feature information. Finally, we suggest a global hierarchical feature fusion strategy (GHFFS), which can utilize the hierarchical features more effectively than dense concatenation by progressively aggregating the feature information at various levels. Numerous experiments show that our method performs better than most of the state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods on the COVID-19 chest CT dataset. In detail, the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) is 0.11 dB and 0.47 dB higher on CTtest1 and CTtest2 at x3 SR compared to the suboptimal method, but the number of parameters and multi-adds are reduced by 22K and 0.43G, respectively. Our method can better recover chest CT image quality with fewer computational resources and effectively assist in COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

The author believes that the provisions of Article 36 § 9-13 of the Co-operative Law concerning the possibility of ordering general assemblies to adopt resolutions in writing or using direct communication at a distance are also applicable to housing cooperatives, due to the wording of the provision of Article 1(7) of the Co-operative Law, according to which the provisions of the Co-operative Law are directly applicable to matters not regulated by the Act of Housing Cooperatives. Notwithstanding the above, the SA also seems to have completely ignored (iura novit curia) the wording of the uninterrupted provision of Article 15zzzr of the Act of 2 March 2020 on special solutions related to the prevention, prevention, and eradication of COVID-19, other infectious diseases, and crises caused by them, according to which a declaration of will of a member of a body of a legal person – and thus of the members of a housing cooperative who form a body such as the general assembly of the cooperative – other than the State Treasury or a local government unit, may be made in documentary form (and thus also in writing). ABSTRACT

Background: Patients with cancer are at a higher risk of getting infected with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 owing to their immunocompromised state. Providing care to these patients amidst the first wave of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic was extremely challenging. Objective(s): This study was aimed at evaluating the clinical profile and disease-related outcomes of pediatric patients with hematological illnesses and cancer. Material(s) and Method(s): This retrospective study was conducted at a tertiary care center in North India during the first wave of the pandemic from March 2020 to December 2020. Children aged up to 18 years, who were treated for a hematological illness or malignancy or underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and tested positive for COVID-19 regardless of symptoms were included in the study. Baseline demographic data related to the age, diagnosis, treatment status, and chemotherapy protocol used were collected. Outcomes including the cure rates, comorbidities, and sequelae were recorded. Result(s): A total of 650 tests for COVID-19 were performed for 181 children;22 patients were found to be COVID-19 positive. The most common diagnosis was acute leukemia (63.6%). None of the patients developed COVID-19 pneumonia. The majority of patients had asymptomatic infection and were managed at home. Among those with a symptomatic infection, the most common symptoms were fever and cough. A total of 3 (13.6%) patients needed oxygen therapy, one developed multisystem inflammatory syndrome of children leading to cardiogenic shock. Three patients required intensive care or respiratory support;all the patients had favorable clinical outcomes. The median time from the onset of COVID-19 to a negative result on the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test was 21.3 days. Cancer treatment was modified in 15 patients (68.2%). Conclusion(s): Our results suggest that children with hemato-oncological illnesses rarely experience severe COVID-19 disease. The impact of the first wave of COVID-19 primarily manifested as disruptions in the logistic planning and administration of essential treatment to these children rather than COVID-19 sequelae.Copyright © 2021 Cancer Research, Statistics, and Treatment Published by Wolters Kluwer - Medknow.

PurposeThis study aims to examine the direct and indirect relationships between Personality Traits (PTs) and Conflict Management Styles (CMSs) through Job Performance (JP) in Pakistan.Design/methodology/approachThis is a quantitative study that employed a survey questionnaire to collect cross-sectional data from academic leaders of Pakistan's Higher Education Institutes (HEIs). The researchers derived this study's findings from 320 useable responses.FindingsThe authors used a Structural Equation Model (SEM) which shows a positive and significant effect of agreeableness on Integrating Styles (IS), Avoiding Styles (AS), Obliging Styles (OS), Compromising Styles (CS) and Dominating Styles (DS). Extraversion has a positive and significant effect on IS, OS, DS and CS. Emotional Stability (ES) is the positive and significant predictor of IS, AS, OS and CS. The conscientiousness trait has a positive and significant effect in predicting IS, OS, DS, CS and AS. Likewise, openness has a positive and significant effect on IS, OS, DS and CS. On the other hand, extraversion and openness have a negative and insignificant effect on AS. Finally, amongst HEIs' academic leaders ES is the negative and insignificant predictor of DS.Practical implicationsThis study's findings offer additional insights into understanding the direct and indirect connections between PTs and CMSs through JP. These support the development of effective policies and organizational arrangements to resolve and manage conflict and employee behaviours. Finally, through another contribution of empirical evidence, these findings further enrich the worth of the literature.Originality/valueThis study's findings provide both, directly and indirectly, the original contributions of Pakistan's HEIs' academic leaders PTs and CMSs.

ABSTRACT

Analyzing cellular structures and the relative location of molecules is essential for addressing biological questions. Super-resolution microscopy techniques that bypass the light diffraction limit have become increasingly popular to study cellular molecule dynamics in situ. However, the application of super-resolution imaging techniques to detect small RNAs (sRNAs) is limited by the choice of proper fluorophores, autofluorescence of samples, and failure to multiplex. Here, we describe an sRNA-PAINT protocol for the detection of sRNAs at nanometer resolution. The method combines the specificity of locked nucleic acid probes and the low background, precise quantitation, and multiplexable characteristics of DNA Point Accumulation for Imaging in Nanoscale Topography (DNA-PAINT). Using this method, we successfully located sRNA targets that are important for development in maize anthers at sub-20 nm resolution and quantitated their exact copy numbers. Graphic abstract: Multiplexed sRNA-PAINT. Multiple Vetting and Analysis of RNA for In Situ Hybridization (VARNISH) probes with different docking strands (i.e., a, b, …) will be hybridized to samples. The first probe will be imaged with the a* imager. The a* imager will be washed off with buffer C, and then the sample will be imaged with b* imager. The wash and image steps can be repeated sequentially for multiplexing.

ABSTRACT

Background: Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune neuromuscular junction disorder characterized by fatigable muscle weakness and autoantibodies. Frequent associations exist between myasthenia gravis and thymic abnormalities, including hyperplasia and thymoma. Several autoimmune illnesses have been identified to be associated with thymoma; however, a few case reports have linked thymoma and achalasia, and the underlying mechanism is unknown. Case report: A 43-year-old man with thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis presented with dysphagia that was refractory to conventional treatment of myasthenia gravis. This dysphagia was challenging to diagnose even after multiple gastroenterology consults and upper endoscopy. The diagnosis of achalasia type II was established after a comprehensive evaluation, including upper endoscopy, barium swallow, and high-resolution esophageal manometry. The patient underwent elective pneumatic balloon dilatation, which successfully alleviated his dysphagia. Conclusion: This case confirmed the association between myasthenia gravis secondary to thymoma and achalasia and showed how the diagnosis of achalasia was challenging. Awareness of this association is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment, improving affected patients' quality of life.

Increased time spent together and the lockdown resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic may have created new scenarios for marital conflict. We analyzed how home confinement affects avoidantly attached individuals': (a) resolution strategies to cope with couple conflict, (b) perception of partner's resolution strategies, and (c) overall relationship satisfaction. The sample comprised 549 individuals, divided into two subsamples: (a) the confined group, individuals confined with their partners (n = 275); and (b) the comparison group, coupled individuals from a dataset collected before the pandemic (n = 274). Results indicate that the proposed model works in different contexts (non-confinement and confinement situations), but there are some significant differences in the magnitude of some of the relationships between the variables, being stronger in the confinement group than in the comparison group. In the confined group, in individuals with avoidant attachment, withdrawal was associated with lower relationship satisfaction and a higher demand partner perceived to a higher extent than in the comparison group. This might explain the lower satisfaction with the relationship of the confined group. The different conflict resolution strategies of the couple mediated between avoidant attachment and relationship satisfaction in both groups (confined and comparison). It is concluded that individuals' attachment orientation is a key factor in how individuals experienced their close relationships during the confinement.

ABSTRACT

Epidural hematomas (EDHs) are a neurosurgical emergency characterized by the accumulation of blood in the epidural space surrounding the dura mater. Spontaneous resolution of EDH is an exceptionally rare occurrence, with only 16 cases reported in the medical literature where resolution occurred within 24 hours of onset. In this case report, we present a unique instance of a chronic EDH that spontaneously resolved over a period of seven months. This case adds to the scientific literature by highlighting an extremely prolonged duration of spontaneous EDH resolution, which, to our knowledge, has not been previously documented. A 59-year-old male suffered a head injury following a fall. He presented with a progressively worsening headache and nausea, raising concerns for a potential EDH. A computed tomography (CT) scan confirmed the presence of a large right parietal EDH measuring 58 × 23 × â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹17 mm and a large left frontoparietal EDH measuring 90 × 20 ×​​​​​​​ 12 mm. These findings were crucial in establishing the primary diagnosis and guiding subsequent interventions. Upon diagnosis of the EDHs, the patient received conservative treatment and was closely monitored. Over a period of seven months, follow-up imaging revealed complete resolution of both EDHs, with restoration of normal midline structures and ventricular sizes. Notably, this represents the longest duration of spontaneous EDH resolution reported in the literature. We attribute this uncommon outcome to the activation of endogenous fibrinolytic pathways, which are responsible for dissolving blood clots and hematomas. In addition, the formation of new collateral blood vessels around the hematoma may help facilitate its resolution. This case underscores the significance of early recognition and vigilant monitoring of EDH cases. While immediate surgical intervention remains essential in most instances, conservative management can be considered in select cases. Our report demonstrates the possibility of spontaneous resolution of EDHs over an extended period, emphasizing the importance of continued observation and appropriate management. By shedding light on this rare occurrence, this case report contributes to the limited existing literature on the topic, providing valuable insights and adding to our understanding of EDH management.

ABSTRACT

Background This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the radiological predictors of post- coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) pulmonary fibrosis and incomplete absorption of pulmonary lesions. Method We systematically searched PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science for studies reporting the predictive value of radiological findings in patients with post-COVID-19 lung residuals published through November 11, 2022. The pooled odds ratios with a 95% confidence interval (CI) were assessed. The random-effects model was used due to the heterogeneity of the true effect sizes. Results We included 11 studies. There were 1777 COVID-19-positive patients, and 1014 (57 %) were male. All studies used chest computed tomography (CT) as a radiologic tool. Moreover, chest X-ray (CXR) and lung ultrasound were used in two studies, along with a CT scan. CT severity score, Radiographic Assessment of Lung Edema score (RALE), interstitial score, lung ultrasound score (LUS), patchy opacities, abnormal CXR, pleural traction, and subpleural abnormalities were found to be predictors of post-COVID-19 sequels. CT severity score (CTSS) and consolidations were the most common predictors among included studies. Pooled analysis revealed that pulmonary residuals in patients with initial consolidation are about four times more likely than in patients without this finding (OR: 3.830;95% CI: 1.811-8.102, I2: 4.640). Conclusion Radiological findings can predict the long-term pulmonary sequelae of COVID-19 patients. CTSS is an important predictor of lung fibrosis and COVID-19 mortality. Lung fibrosis can be diagnosed and tracked using the LUS. Changes in RALE score during hospitalization can be used as an independent predictor of mortality.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: This prospective follow-up study aimed to determine the temporal changes in respiratory outcomes over 6 months period in patients with and without cancer hospitalized for severe COVID-19 and to determine the associated risk factors based on admission viral load. METHODS: All adult patients hospitalized with a confirmed diagnosis of severe SARS-CoV-2 infection were investigated using rRT-PCR on nasopharyngeal swab specimens. Patients were divided into three arbitrary groups according to their cycle threshold (CT) values obtained at admission as high (CT<25.0), medium (CT between 25.0 and 30.0), and low (CT>30.0) viral load. Patients had pulmonary function tests, chest high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT), and a 6-minute walking time distance measured at each follow-up visit. RESULTS: This follow-up study had a total of 112 participants, of which 75 were cancer-free and 37 had active cancer. Overall, 29.5% had a low viral load, compared to 48.2% who had a high viral load, and 22.3% had a medium viral load. For patients who did not have cancer, the mean age was 57.3 (SD 15.4) and for those who had cancer, it was 62.3 (SD 18.4). Most patients had overall better temporal changes in pulmonary function and tolerance, as well as exercise capacity, even though severe and chronic respiratory abnormalities persisted in a fraction of the patients. In patients without cancer who had a high viral load, we have seen a substantial reduction in diffusion capacity of the lungs for carbon monoxide (DLCO) predicted value with a median of 65 (IQR 63-70) while in patients with cancer, it was 60 (IQR 56-67) at 2 months. At 4 and 6 months, the predicted DLCO values for patients without cancer were 65 (IQR 61-70), whereas the predicted DLCO values for patients with active cancer were 62 (IQR 60-67) and 67 (59-73). Importantly, radiological abnormalities persisted in 22 (29%) non-cancer patients and 16 (43%) cancer patients. Multivariate regression analysis showed an increased odds ratio of impaired HRCT associated with a high viral load of 3.04 (95% CI:1.68-6.14; p < 0.001) for patients without cancer and 5.07 (95% CI: 4.04-10.8; p < 0.0001) for patients with cancer. The CT pneumonia score at hospitalization was 2.25 (95% CI:1.76-3.08; p = 0.041) and 2.85 (95% CI:1.89-5.14; p = 0.031) for non-cancer and cancer patients respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The evidence of persistent pulmonary abnormalities and radiographic changes was found in both patient groups who had high viral load at hospital admission and suggesting that SARS-CoV-2 viral load might serve as a useful indicator to predict the development of respiratory complications in patients with COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

Increased usage of chemical disinfectants during the COVID-19 pandemic may impact the chemical composition of indoor air in residential and commercial buildings. This study characterized gas-phase concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during multi-surface disinfection activities in a tiny house research facility. This unique facility provided a controlled, yet realistic environment for simulating whole-building disinfection events. VOCs were measured in real-time (1 Hz) in the bulk air of the tiny house with a proton transfer reaction time-of-flight mass spectrometer (PTR-TOF-MS). In addition, particle number (PN) size distributions were measured with a high-resolution electrical low-pressure impactor (HR-ELPI+). PTR-TOF-MS measurements demonstrate that chemical disinfectant spray products applied to multiple surfaces can substantially increase indoor VOC concentrations. © 2022 17th International Conference on Indoor Air Quality and Climate, INDOOR AIR 2022. ABSTRACT

We investigated the impact of human activity during COVID-19 on the tropospheric nitrogen dioxide vertical column density (NO2 TropVCD) at three urban sites (Gwangju and Busan in Korea and Yokosuka in Japan) and one remote site (Cape Hedo in Japan) from Multi-Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (MAX-DOAS) and Pandora. Compared to the monthly mean NO2 TropVCD from 2015 to 2018 and in 2019, the values were lower in 2020 due to social distancing in Korea and Japan. High negative relative changes were observed from May to September (-30% to -18%) at the three urban sites;Cape Hedo, a remote site, did not show a significant difference in relative changes between previous years and 2020, suggesting that only anthropogenic emission sources decreased dramatically. In the case of Yokosuka, the 15-day moving average of the NO2 TropVCD exhibited a good relationship with transportation (R = 0.48) and industry (R = 0.54) mobility data. In contrast, the NO2 TropVCD at the Korean sites showed a moderate to low correlation with the industrial sector and insignificant correlations with transportation. The differences in correlations might be caused by the different social distancing policies in Korea (voluntary) and Japan (mandatory). By applying generalized boosted models to exclude meteorological and seasonal effects associated with NO2 TropVCD variations, we revealed that the decreasing trend from 2019 to 2020 was much steeper than that from 2015 to 2020 (a factor of two), and a significant change was identified in January 2020, when the first cases of COVID-19 were observed in both Korea and Japan. This result confirmed that the reduction in NO2 can be largely explained by the NOx emission reduction resulting from social distancing for COVID-19 rather than annual meteorological differences;however, in December 2020, NO2 recovered suddenly to its previous level due to an increase in human activities.

ABSTRACT

Medical textile is one of the technical textiles sectors, growing faster due to developments in polymer science and technology and innovation in forming new textile structures. In this review, current market trends for the growth of medical textiles for both pre and post covid pandemic periods were discussed. Focus is given to the classification of medical textiles and devices, specific requirements of fibers and widely used types of fibers, and advanced developments in this field, including nanofibers, bicomponent fibers, superabsorbent polymers, and conductive materials used in a wide range of advanced medical devices. Various fabric structures (woven/knitted/nonwoven/braided) have been in use in biomedical devices;however, recent 3D shaped structures such as spacer fabrics, and 3D-printed materials have profoundly marked their significance with its ability to adapt to specific needs of the medical community. Smart wearable sensor technologies for monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment are discussed and critically reviewed, enabling the readers to understand the complexity of the nature of interdisciplinary approaches required for developing such complex structures and systems. Antimicrobial agents (synthetic and natural/organic) used in the development of medical textiles mainly wound dressings, advances in antiadhesive textile coatings, and antimicrobial assessments of medical fabrics are critically reviewed. Finally, a case study on 3D printing of complex structures is presented to update modern developments using fine detail resolution (FDR), a selective laser sintering that uses carbon dioxide laser to produce delicate and complex 3D structures suitable for medical applications. It is anticipated that readers will benefit from this critical overview of trends in this sector and the multidisciplinary approaches needed to meet the demands of the ever-growing consumer base. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd. ABSTRACT

Tinospora cordifolia herbal supplements have recently gained prominence due to their promising immunomodulatory and anti-viral effects against SARS-CoV-2. Mislabelling or diluting Tinospora supplements for profit may harm public health. Thus, validating the label claim of these supplements in markets is critical. This study investigated how high resolution mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and chemometrics can be used to distinguish Tinospora cordifolia from two other closely related species (T. crispa and T. sinensis). The Orthogonal Partial Least Square Discriminant Analysis (OPLS-DA) and PLS-DA based chemometric models predicted the species identity of Tinospora with 94.44% accuracy. These classification models were trained using 54 T. cordifolia, 21 T. crispa, and 21 T. sinensis samples. We identified 7 biomarkers, including corydine, malabarolide, ecdysterone, and reticuline, which discriminated Tinospora cordifolia from the two other species. The label claim of 25 commercial Tinospora samples collected from different parts of India was verified based on the relative abundance of the biomarker compounds, of which 20 were found authentic. The relative abundance of biomarkers significantly varied in the 5 suspicious market samples. This pilot study demonstrates a robust metabolomic approach for authenticating Tinospora species, which can further be used in other herbal matrices for product authentication and securing quality. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

Introduction: The incomplete effectiveness of interventions demands new ways to help people diagnosed with schizophrenia who experience auditory verbal hallucinations (SZ-AVH). We aimed to perform a feasibility study of low-resolution electromagnetic tomography analysis (LORETA) neurofeedback with people exhibiting treatment-resistant SZ-AVH. Method(s): We examined changes in resting-state quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) in four people with SZ-AVH (three male, one female) after LORETA Z-score neurofeedback training. Result(s): The study design had to be amended due to a national COVID-19 lockdown. Neurofeedback was well tolerated and no participants dropped out. Recruitment was the main feasibility issue. Barriers included a lack of knowledge of neurofeedback by patients and mental health teams, as well as the travel and time commitment involved. For the only patient who completed all 20 sessions, elevated frontal, central, and temporal theta absolute power measured at baseline normalized after treatment, but decreased temporal delta and an increase in coherence for all frequency bands were also found. Conclusion(s): Two key lessons were drawn for the feasibility of trials of EEG neurofeedback in this population. First, significant effort is needed to educate mental health professionals and patients about neurofeedback. Second, the equipment employed for neurofeedback training needs to be physically based at a site where patients routinely attend.Copyright © 2022. Amico et al.

ABSTRACT

Coronavirus disease 2019, caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), poses a considerable threat to global public health. This study developed and evaluated a rapid, low-cost, expandable, and sequencing-free high-resolution melting (HRM) assay for the direct detection of SARS-CoV-2 variants. A panel of 64 common bacterial and viral pathogens that can cause respiratory tract infections was employed to evaluate our method's specificity. Serial dilutions of viral isolates determined the sensitivity of the method. Finally, the assay's clinical performance was assessed using 324 clinical samples with potential SARS-CoV-2 infection. Multiplex HRM analysis accurately identified SARS-CoV-2 (as confirmed with parallel reverse transcription-quantitative PCR [qRT-PCR] tests), differentiating between mutations at each marker site within approximately 2 h. For each target, the limit of detection (LOD) was lower than 10 copies/reaction (the LOD of N, G142D, R158G, Y505H, V213G, G446S, S413R, F486V, and S704L was 7.38, 9.72, 9.96, 9.96, 9.50, 7.80, 9.33, 8.25, and 8.25 copies/reaction, respectively). No cross-reactivity occurred with organisms of the specificity testing panel. In terms of variant detection, our results had a 97.9% (47/48) rate of agreement with standard Sanger sequencing. The multiplex HRM assay therefore offers a rapid and simple procedure for detecting SARS-CoV-2 variants. IMPORTANCE In the face of the current severe situation of increasing SARS-CoV-2 variants, we developed an upgraded multiplex HRM method for the predominant SARS-CoV-2 variants based on our original research. This method not only could identify the variants but also could be utilized in subsequent detection of novel variants since the assay has great performance in terms of flexibility. In summary, the upgraded multiplex HRM assay is a rapid, reliable, and economical detection method, which could better screen prevalent virus strains, monitor the epidemic situation, and help to develop measures for the prevention and control of SARS-CoV-2.

ABSTRACT

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) 1 km aerosol product based on the Multi-Angle Implementation of Atmospheric Correction (MAIAC) algorithm has great potential in understanding the interaction between human activities and the atmospheric environment. In this paper, the MODIS 1 km aerosol product over China during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic was validated against with the ground measured data collected from the Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET). The result shows a good agreement between the two datasets. The spatiotemporal analyses of three selected regions, which are Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Hubei and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao, indicate that the COVID-19 pandemic has a significant impact on human activities and aerosol loadings.

ABSTRACT

Satellite remote sensing has advantages in monitoring environmental changes during the global pandemics such as the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS) and the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). In this paper, the variations of atmospheric environment during SARS and COVID-19 pandemics were calculated and analyzed based on the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Atmosphere Monthly Global Product. Preliminary results show that: (1) aerosol optical depth is most affected by the pandemics, especially the duration and prevention and control measures;(2) the correlations between the variables of aerosol optical depth, cloud fraction, total column ozone and precipitable water vapor were not very strong during the two pandemics.
